The topic of the workshop is "Retrieval of Total Sea Ice Concentration from AMSR-E and AMSR2 Data using Optimal Estimation Techniques” with specific focus on (1) Next generation sea ice retrieval algorithms including optimal estimation of sea ice and other related geophysical parameters from microwave radiometer data, and (2) Linking between modeling and observational sea ice communities, especially for the development of next generation sea ice models, a natural ground for data assimilation. The workshop is organized under JAXA GCOM RA5 and is supported by the ESA CCI sea ice project and the EU projects SPICES and ICEARC. More information can be obtained from Leif Toudal Pedersen (ltp@dmi.dk).
